Fruit salad is a very delicious dessert which can be made in just 15 minutes. Kids and adults alike will enjoy it a lot. I have made it in Indian style with sugar syrup and topped it with vanilla ice cream. Learn to make this delicious Indian style fruit salad with ice cream following this easy recipe.
Nuts - You can use almonds and cashew nuts if preferred. Toast the nuts separately and chop it finely. (I have not used nuts)
Fruits - You can use any fruits of your choice. I have used papaya, pineapple, pomegranates, mangoes, apple, banana and few grapes (use seedless grapes). Wash and cut all the fruits into small pieces.
Sugar syrup - In a pan, mix 3 tbsp of sugar and 3 tbsp of water. Heat to dissolve the sugar. Then simmer for 2-3 minutes. Remove from the heat, add 2-3 drops of lemon juice and leave it to cool. After it cools, refrigerate the sugar syrup.
In a glass bowl/cup, mix together fruits (1 cup), 2 tsp sugar syrup and nuts. Top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Place a cherry and a wafer biscuit and serve chilled. Repeat the same for another bowl of fruit salad.
Note - You can store the remaining sugar syrup in a glass bottle in the refrigerator. You can use it to sweeten fruit juices, smoothies, cold beverages etc.
