   Ingredients needed

   Black Beans – 1/2 cup
   Salt as needed
   Grated coconut – 1/4 cup

   For the seasoning

   Oil – 2 tsp
   Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
   Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
   Hing – a pinch
   Red chilli – 1
Green chilli – 1 small finely chopped
Ginger – 1/2 inch piece finely chopped
   Curry leaves – a sprig

   For Garnishing

Coriander Leaves – 2 tbsp finely chopped

Preparation

Soak black beans in water overnight or for 5-6 hours.

Drain the water, add 1/4 cup of fresh water and pressure cook beans until soft but not mushy. I kept a vessel inside the cooker and pressure cooked for 3 whistles. If cooking directly in the cooker, you must add more water to prevent it from getting burnt.

Method

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add urad dal, red chilli and hing.

When dal turns golden brown, add ginger, green chillies, curry leaves and saute for a few seconds.

Add black beans after draining the water if any. Add salt needed and mix well until it is well coated with the seasoning.

Add grated coconut and remove from heat.

Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and enjoy!
