Peanut Chutney with Coconut-Kadalai Chutney

Peanut chutney is a very tasty chutney prepared with roasted peanuts. It is a perfect side dish for idli, dosa, pongal. It is easy to make and needs very less ingredients

Ingredients

Ingredients needed for the chutney

  • 1/2 cup Peanuts
  • 1/4 cup Grated coconut
  • 4 Red chillies (or as required)
  • Tamarind (a small piece)
  • Salt needed

For the Seasoning

  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves

Instructions

Method

  1. Roast the peanut stirring continuously on medium heat. Once roasted, leave it to cool. (you can skip this step, if you are using roasted peanuts)

  2. Then remove its skin to some extent.

  3. Grind peanuts, coconut, red chillies, tamarind and salt with little water first.

  4. Then add more water and blend it to a slightly smooth paste.

  5. Heat oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add urad dal and curry leaves.

  6. Saute it for a few seconds and pour the seasoning over the chutney.

  7. Serve as a side dish for Idli, dosa or upma.
