   Ingredients needed

   All purpose flour/Maida – 1 1/4 cup
   Ghee or butter -2 tbsp
   Cooking soda/baking soda – 1/3 tsp
   Chilli powder – 1 tsp
   Hing/Asafoetida -1/4 tsp
   Salt as needed
   Oil for frying

Preparation

Sieve the flour and keep it aside.

Method

First mix (cream together vigorously) butter (or ghee) and cooking soda well with your hands as we do for badusha.

Then add maida, chilli powder, hing and salt.

Add water and knead into a stiff but smooth dough.(to make it easier, you can grease your hands with ghee)

Roll it out just as you do for chapati (neither too thin nor too thick)

Using a biscuit cutter/roller, cut the dough into diamond shapes or squares.(if you do not have a biscuit or pizza cutter, you can use a sharp knife).

Heat oil and deep fry it in batches until golden brown.

Allow it to cool. Then store it in an airtight container. It has a self life of a week.

Note – Instead of chilli powder, you can pepper powder + jeera for a different flavour.
