Dal Palak Recipe-Palak Dal-Spinach Dal-(step wise pictures)

July 29, 2012 by PadhuSankar 35 Comments

Spinach dal curry is a wonderful combination of spinach, lentils and garlic. This palak dal tastes great with  both roti and rice.Though I have prepared it with tur dal, you can use moong dal or a mix of both moong and tur dal. Being a health freak, I include greens in my diet at least 4 times in a week by adding it to parathas or preparing  poriyal or kootu or pulao or khichdi or sandwich with greens. This is one of my favorite comfort food and I love to have it with hot steamed rice and ghee. Today we will learn how to prepare dal palak following this easy recipe with step wise pictures.

Palak is spinach leaves and dal is lentils. Dal is regularly eaten with rice and roti (Indian flat bread) in India. There are different types of dal like Tur dal, moong dal, masoor dal, urad dal, channa dal etc. You will get dal online or in all Indian stores.

I would have posted the picture of palak in some other palak recipe. Palak is pasalai keerai in Tamil (not the Cylon pasalai) and spinach in English. You can ask for palak in the market.
