Meringue Cookies-Christmas Meringue Cookies Recipe

Meringue Cookies are light, fluffy and taste delicious. As Christmas is round the corner, I am so excited to share the recipe for Christmas tree meringues. You just need 2 main ingredients to make this cookie – egg whites and sugar. These cookies are crispy on the outside and a little chewy in between the crunch. It was fun to make these Christmas meringue and I enjoyed it a lot. This is the first time, I am making meringues and felt very happy as they turned out perfect. Today we will learn how to make Christmas Meringue Cookies following this easy recipe with step wise pictures.

Christmas Meringue Cookies

   Ingredients needed

   Egg white – 2
   Salt – a pinch
   Granulated white Sugar – 1/2 cup (100 grams)
   Green Food color – few drops
   Piping bag
   Sprinkles, Silver balls for decoration

Preparation 


Preheat the oven at 95 degrees C for 10 minutes.

Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Powder sugar and keep it aside.

Method 


Using an electric beater, beat the egg whites on medium speed until frothy.


Add salt and continue to beat the eggs until you get soft peaks.


Once you get soft peaks, add sugar little at a time and continue to beat on medium high until you get stiff peaks.


Add vanilla extract and mix well.


Add green color to the batter and mix well. (as we are making Christmas tree, I have added green color). Our meringue batter is ready.

Before piping the cookies on the parchment paper, just stick the parchment paper by applying a little meringue mixture on the underside of each corner of the paper to prevent the paper from sliding.

Transfer the meringue mixture into an icing bag. Using a large star or round shaped nozzle, pipe the mixture directly on the parchment paper as shown below like Xmas tree.

Then place sprinkles or silver balls on the tree as you like.


Bake the meringues at 95 degrees C for approximately 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours or until fairly crisp.

Turn off the oven and leave the meringue cookies in the oven (with door slightly open) for several hours or overnight to dry completely.

Dust them with powdered sugar to create a snow effect. Place star sprinkles on top using a little frosting. Our Christmas Meringue Cookies are ready. They make great Christmas gifts.

Storage – It can be stored at room temperature in an air tight box for several days.

Note – As it is Christmas, I have piped in the shape of a tree and used green color. You can pipe any design of your choice and use any food color of your choice, not necessarily green.
