Bruschetta, pronounced as “brusketta,” is a very popular Italian starter/appetizers that can be easily made at home. Traditional Italian bruschetta is sliced bread toasted over coal, rubbed with raw garlic cloves and topped with olive oil and salt. Restaurants serve bruschetta with variety of toppings. Whenever I visit a French restaurant, I order bruschetta as it is my favorite appetizer. Today we will learn how to make bruschetta with tomato following this easy recipe.
Preheat oven (broiler mode) at 180 degree C for 10 minutes. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Cut baguette diagonally around 1 cm thick as shown in the picture below.
In a bowl, mix together chopped tomatoes, olive oil, fresh coriander leaves, fresh basil leaves, salt and pepper powder. Set aside for 15 minutes for the flavors to blend. (I used dried basil but fresh will be better. If using dried basil, use less). Adjust seasonings to your taste.
Toast bread slices in preheated oven until golden brown and crispy both sides. Keep an eye to prevent the bread slices from getting burnt.
Remove the bread slices from the oven and rub garlic cloves gently on it when hot.
Spoon tomatoes mixture on top of the baguette slices and serve immediately. Enjoy!!
Note – You can also use a grill pan or a fry pan to toast the baguette slices. Bruschetta is crisp on the outside and soft and moist on the inside.
