Apple Cake-Fresh Apple Cake Recipe

December 16, 2016 by PadhuSankar 7 Comments

Apple cake is a very popular and a delicious dessert/cake. This is one of the most simple cakes, I have ever baked. I got the recipe from the Redmond pressure multicooker 100 recipes book. Though I have baked the cake in  multi cooker, you can use oven or even cooker to bake the cake. This cake does not have butter or oil in it, yet it was so soft and spongy. Today we will learn how to make spongy apple cake following this easy recipe with step wise pictures.

 Prep Time : 10 mins

 Cook Time : 40 mins
 Serves: 4-5
 Recipe Category: Cake-Apple
 Recipe Cuisine: International
 Author:Padhu Sankar

   Ingredients needed

   All purpose flour/maida – 180 g (1 cup + 1 tbsp)
   Apple – 1 medium size (300 g)
   Eggs – 5 eggs (250 g)
   Sugar – 200 g (3/4 cup + 1 1/2 tbsp)
   Butter – for greasing
   Baking Powder – 1 1/2 tsp
   Cinnamon powder – 1/8 tsp

Preparations

Grease baking tin with butter and keep it ready.

Method

Sieve all purpose flour (maida) with baking powder, cinnamon powder and keep it aside.

Beat eggs and sugar well until light and foamy. This step is very important to get a spongy cake.

Fold in flour until well combined.

Cut apples into 1 cm cubes.  Put half of the batter into the greased bowl. Spread chopped apples on top.

Cover the apples with the rest of the dough.

I have used the Redmond pressure multicooker for baking this cake. Close the lid,  press the BAKE button and set the time of 40 minutes. Cook until the program finishes.

You can make this apple cake in regular oven or even in cooker.

For baking in oven – Bake in a pre heated oven at 180 degree C until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

For baking in Cooker – Follow the method given in my Cooker Cake.

Note – You can add chopped walnuts to the batter.

I used the red apple. You can use green apple also.

You can use wheat flour instead of maida.

Enjoy this cake warm. Dust with powdered sugar, if preferred. It tastes awesome when topped with a scoop of ice cream.

Thank you for liking my recipes. Glad you found it useful. In baking measurements are very important. I can give you the exact measurements only after experimenting with milkmaid.

I have to experiment and then only share. As this is a sponge cake, egg is very important in this recipes. Do check my eggless cake recipes under the categories below.
