Sweet Corn Rice/Corn Pulao

Sweet Corn Rice-corn pulao

 Prep Time : 10 mins

 Cook Time : 15 mins
 Serves: 2
 Recipe Category: Main Course/Rice Recipes
 Recipe Cuisine: Indian

   Ingredients needed

   Basmati rice – 1 cup
Sweet corn – 1 cup (I used frozen American Sweet Corn)
   Onion – 2 medium size
   Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
   Turmeric powder – a pinch
   Salt to taste

   Spice Powder

   Coriander powder -2 tsp
   Chilli Powder -3/4
   Garam masala -1 tsp

  For the seasoning

   Oil -1 tbsp
   Cloves – 2
   Cinnamon – 1 inch piece

Preparation

Soak basmati rice for 20 minutes. Drain the water completely and then cook with 2 cups of water. Spread it on a plate to cool.

Method

Heat oil, add cinnamon and cloves, saute for 2-3 seconds and then add thinly sliced onions. Saute until onions turn golden brown.

Then add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder and saute for a few more minutes.

Add sweet corn, all the spice powder and cook for a few minutes until the raw flavor goes.

Then add rice, needed salt and mix it well.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with any raita of your choice or chips.

Note -You can prepare this rice with ordinary corn also but cook corn until soft before adding it to the rice.

This pulao can be prepared with leftover rice and brown rice also.

Yes, it should be cooked. Since I used frozen corn, I just rinsed it and boiled it for a few minutes.
