Corn Flour Halwa-Karachi Halwa Recipe-Easy Halwa Recipe

Cornflour Halwa is also known as Karachi Halwa or Bombay Halwa. It is prepared with corn flour, sugar and ghee. As Diwali is round the corner, I wanted to share with you some easy sweet and snack recipes. Today we will learn how to make Cornflour halwa following this easy recipe with step wise pictures.

Cornflour Halwa-Karachi Halwa

 Prep Time : 10 mins

 Cook Time : 20 mins 
 Serves: 4

   Ingredients needed

   Cornflour – 1/2 cup
   Sugar – 1 cup
   Fresh Lemon juice – 3 drops
   Ghee – 1/4 cup melted
   Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp
   Cashew nuts – 15 (break into 2-3 pieces)
   Food Color – 2 drops (any color)

Preparation 


Grease a baking tin or stainless steel plate (with high sides) with ghee and keep it ready.

Method 


Mix cornflour with 1 cup of water without any lumps. Add food color and mix well.

Mix sugar and water well first. Then switch on the heat. Add lemon juice and boil on medium heat stirring from time to time.

Let the sugar dissolve. When it starts bubbling, switch off the heat. Add the cornflour mixture gradually with one hand and keep stirring with your other hand.

Now switch on the heat/gas stove.

Karachi Halwa

Cook stirring continuously on medium heat. When it starts thickening, add ghee, cardamom powder and cashew nuts.

Easy Halwa Recipe

Cook until the mixture becomes glossy and leaves the sides of the pan.

Pour the halwa into a greased tray and allow it to set.

Cornflour Halwa recipe

Once set, cut it into squares and enjoy!!

      Kindly read the recipe well before commenting. I have written very clearly under method – "Mix cornflour with 1 cup of water without any lumps"

      Your ingredients list does not mention water. Please adjust to add quantity of water.

      Read the first sentence under "METHOD". The very first sentence mentions the quantity of water.
