 Prep Time : 5 mins

 Cook Time : 10 mins
 Serves: 2-3
 Recipe Category: Salads
 Recipe Cuisine: Indian

   Ingredients needed

Brown Black eyed peas/brown karamani – 1/2 cup
   Potato – 1 (boiled)
   Tomato – 1 big
Ginger (finely chopped) – 1/2 tsp
   Green chilli – 1 (optional)
   Capsicum – 1 medium size
Roasted Cumin Powder (jeera powder) – 1/4 tsp
Fresh Lemon Juice – 1-2 tbsp or as needed
   Pepper powder to taste
   Salt to taste

   For Garnishing

Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp finely chopped

Method

Wash and soak brown black eyed peas in water overnight or for 6 hours. Pressure cook with just enough water to soak the black eyes peas,
salt needed, for 3 whistles or until soft.

Cut tomato and capsicum into strips after removing its seed.

Boil potato, remove the skin and cut it into cubes.

Finely chop green chillies after removing its seeds.

In a mixing bowl, combine together cooked black eyed peas, potato, tomato, ginger, green chilli and capsicum.

Add lemon juice, pepper powder, roasted jeera powder and salt needed. Since we have already added salt while cooking black eyed peas, add less salt now.

Garnish it with finely chopped coriander leaves and serve as a snack or as a side dish.

You can add chat masala if preferred.
