Oats Carrot Smoothie-Carrot Oats Smoothie Recipe

October 16, 2012 by PadhuSankar 18 Comments

Smoothies can also be made with vegetables and they  can be as sweet and delicious as fruit smoothies. I tried making smoothie with oats and carrot and I loved it very much. It’s a great way to get the kids to eat vegetables and oats. As I have added oat and nuts to this smoothie, it is quite filling. When you are pressed for time, opt for healthy fruits or vegetable smoothie in the morning as it is a great way to kick start your day.

   Ingredients needed

   Oats – 2 tbsp
   Milk – 3/4 cup chilled
   Carrot juice -1/2 cup
   Dates – 3 pitted
   Almonds -1 tsp chopped
   Pistachio – 1 tsp chopped
   Honey – 2 tsp

Preparation

Cook oats in half cup of water until thick and leave it to cool.

Soak Dates in a little warm milk if required.

Extract 1/2 cup of juice from carrots (if you can get red carrots, use that). If you do not have a food processor, just grate 2-3 medium sized carrots, add 1/2 cups of water and grind it to a fine paste. Then filter it using a juice strainer. Extract as much juice as possible by pressing it with a masher or ladle.

Method

Combine cooked oats, dates, carrot juice, honey and little milk in a blender and blend until smooth. Then add the rest of the milk and blend for a few more seconds. Garnish with chopped nuts. Pour it into a glass and serve chilled.

This refreshing Carrot Oats Smoothie or milkshake (name it as you like) takes only a few minutes to prepare, and is ideal for a quick and light breakfast. It also makes a great snack in between meals.

I usually add a whole carrot to all my smoothies.. I dont like it that much in texture, but then its good for health 🙂

Good that you have added Carrot juice and not a whole one
