5 Minutes Microwave Chocolate Cake in a mug

 Prep Time : 3 mins

 Cook Time : 4 mins
 Serves: 2
 Recipe Category: Cakes
 Recipe Cuisine: International
 Author:Padhu Sankar

   Ingredients needed

   Dry ingredients

   All purpose flour/ maida – 4 tbsp
   Sugar – 4 tbsp
   Cocoa powder -2 tbsp
   Baking powder – 1/4 tsp

  Wet Ingredients

   Egg – 1 small
   Milk – 3 tbsp
Oil or melted butter- 2 tbsp (melted butter gives better result)
   Vanilla essence -1/2 tsp

Chocolate chips – 1 tbsp (optional but recommended)
Microwave safe mug – 1 big or two smaller ones

Preparation

Grease the mug with a little butter or oil.

Method

Mix all the dry ingredients in a mug. (maida, sugar, baking powder and cocoa powder)

Then add egg and mix it well.

Add milk, melted butter and vanilla essence. Mix well.

Add chocolate chips (recommended) and mix it gently.

Microwave at 800 W for 1 minute.Check it after 1 minute. Then microwave for another minute or two.(each microwave is different, so adjust seeing your cake). Allow it to cool.

Serving tips

1.Run a knife around the edges and invert the cake onto a plate and cut it into round or hearts using a cookie cutter. Top it with vanilla ice cream and serve.

2.Serve as such with the mug, topped with vanilla ice cream. Tastes awesome!!

3.Just sprinkle powdered sugar on top and serve. Cut out a small cardboard heart, keep it on top of the cake and dust powder sugar on the rest of the area. Remove the heart and it will be as in the picture above.

Eggless Chocolate cake in a mug

For eggless version, follow the same recipe omitting the egg. The cake will be more fudgy and will not be as soft as the ones with eggs. It tastes great if served with a scoop of ice cream.

Steamed chocolate cake in a mug

I tried steaming the cake and the result was not bad but it took around 20 minutes for the cake to be done.

Note – For 2 persons, follow the same recipe, but divide the batter into 2 microwave safe mugs (fill only up to 3/4) and microwave separately.

Since I do not have a microwave, I went to my friend’s house just to bake this cake and post it in time for Valentine’s day. Happy Valentine’s day!

I made it expecting it to be a disaster since all my efforts at baking has till now been great disasters. But, it turned out great. A bit dry, but tasty and fluffy. I am a big fan of ur blog.

It will be very dense. You can try half maida and half wheat flour. Try my healthy Ragi Chocolate Cake (no maida)
