Lauki Raita-Bottle Gourd (Dudhi) Raita Recipe

This is another healthy dish prepared with lauki which I love very much. It can be served as a side dish for biryani, chapati, parathas and rotis or can be had on its own.This raita tastes great when served chilled. Today we will learn how to make Lauki ka raita following this simple recipe.

Lauki Raita

How to make Lauki Raita (Sorakkai Pachadi)

Prep time – under 10 mins
Cook time – under 10 mins
Serves -2

Ingredients needed

Bottle gourd/ Lauki grated -1 cup
Curd/ plain yogurt – 1 cup
Roasted jeera/cumin powder – 1 tsp (dry roast cumin seeds and powder it)

For the seasoning 

Oil -1 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Green chilli -1 or 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
Curry leaves -few

Preparation

Peel the skin and discard the seeds of bottle gourd  Grate and cook the grated bottle gourd with salt in as less water as possible. Allow it to cool. Squeeze out the water. 

Method 

Take the cooked lauki in a bowl, add curd and roasted jeera powder.

Heat a tsp of oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add green chillies and curry leaves.

Saute for a second and pour it over the bottle gourd. Mix well, check for salt and refrigerate for half an hour.

This raita tastes great when served cold.

    Oh my god bottle ground became boring to me by making sambar&kootu.
    When I hear this lauki from my mom's,I will start running.
    But this is new version for me.looking good
