We all know that oats is a very healthy and nutritious food. Including oats in our diet provides a wide range of health benefits.Oats are high in fiber, so it keeps you fuller for a longer time, thereby aids in weight loss. It helps lower cholesterol and has been ranked as one of the best foods which can fight against cholesterol. It is nutritious, satisfying, versatile and can also be cooked in a jiffy. Oats Savoury Porridge-Oats with Buttermilk

 Prep Time : 5 mins

 Cook Time : 10 mins 
 Serves: 1

   Ingredients needed

   Oats -1/4 cup (I used Quakers)
   Water -1 cup
   Thick Buttermilk – 1 cup
   Salt as required

   For the seasoning

   Oil – 1 tsp
   Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
   Jeera/Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
   Green chilli – 1 small (finely chopped)
   Ginger – 1 inch piece (finely chopped)
   Tender curry leaves -1 sprig

Oats Savoury Porridge-Oats with Buttermilk

Method

Add oats, water and salt in a saucepan.

Simmer and cook until thick stirring continuously.

Allow it to cool down completely. Add thick buttermilk and mix well.

Heat a tsp of oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add jeera seeds, crushed ginger, green chillies and curry leaves. Add this seasoning to the prepared oats, mix well and enjoy.

    healthy recipe….I remember doing salted version with oats for my MIL by adding buttermilk, but without seasoning…will try this too….
