Lassi Recipe-Sweet Lassi Recipe-Punjabi Lassi

Lassi is a very popular yogurt based drink from Punjab. Punjabi meal is incomplete without lassi. Lassi can be prepared in two ways-salted and sweet lassi. Sweet lassi is made from yogurt and sugar. Punjabi lassi is usually flavored with rose essence. Salted lassi is a savory drink mostly flavored with roasted and ground cumin powder. Sweet lassi can also be flavored with fruits. The most common is mango lassi. It is made from yogurt, water and mango pulp. Today we will learn how to make sweet lassi following this easy recipe.

How to make Lassi (sweet version)

Prep time – under 5 mins
Serves -1

Ingredients needed 

Yogurt – 1 1/4 cup
Sugar – 2 tbsp or as required
Water – 1/4 cup
Cardamom powder – a generous pinch

Method

Blend together yogurt, sugar and water in a blender.

Sprinkle cardamom powder and serve chilled. Add ice cubes if required.

Variations 

For Punjabi Lassi – add 1/4 tsp of rose essence and blend.

To make it more rich and creamy, add a tbsp of cream and use milk instead of water.

You can add 2-3 saffron thread soaked in a tbsp of milk to the lassi.

You might like Mango Lassi recipe and South Indian style of making  Spiced buttermilk or chaas also.

    this is the most popular summer drink in punjab..my mom use to make it so many times in a day in summer time as it gets very very hot ..
