Oats Soup Recipe-Indian Oats Recipes

Many people choose oats for breakfast mainly because they are easy and quick to prepare. Oats is a delicious and healthy way to kick start the day, when you do not find time to prepare other breakfasts. Oats aids in weight loss also. As oats is rich in fiber, it will keep you fuller for a longer time, thereby curbing the desire to eat more. According to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln-“Eating oats may help protect against high blood cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. Today let us learn the Indian style of preparing oats soup following this simple recipe.

 Prep Time : 5 mins

 Cook Time : 5 mins 
 Serves: 1

   Ingredients needed

   Oats – 2 tbsp (I used Quaker oats)
   Skimmed milk -3/4 cup
   Pearl Onion – 2 tbsp finely chopped
   Garlic -2 cloves minced
   Pepper powder to taste
   Salt to taste
   Oil – 1 tsp

Preparation


Finely chop or mince onion and garlic.

Method 


Heat oil in a pan, saute onion and garlic until onion turns translucent. Keep it aside.

Cook oats in 1/2 – 3/4 cup of water stirring continuously until it thickens.(This will take only 3-4 minutes)

Then add milk and bring it to boil. Switch off the flame. Add onion+garlic mix, salt and pepper powder to taste.

Serve piping hot with toasted whole wheat bread.

    Hi I am on a weight reducing diet and your soup recipes are my favorites. Especially this one. I made 2 variations. I used skimmed milk powder instead of milk and in the end i strained it. It was delicious!!!!!! almost tasting like restaurant's french onion soup. Thanks a lot and post more soup recipes. (y)
